WORLD AIDS DAY at Rena Le Lona

Rocket AV assisted MAC Cosmetics as a sponsor for the Rena Le Lona World Aids Day concert on the 1st of December 2009.

Rena le Lona (we are with you) is an after-school and holiday arts and care centre that focuses on healing and developing orphans and vulnerable children aged from 5 to 17 years old via the arts. It is located in Diepkloof, Soweto, within close walking distance of three schools. Afternoons at the centre are spent doing homework, playing and participating in group activities mainly centered in the arts. Rena le Lona has strong partnerships with the Township Arts Project, the SA Ballet Theatre Company and various other arts organisations and individuals who provide the children with coaching in ballet, art, music, writing and drama to help them express themselves, heal their past and develop a bright future.

It was a very proud moment for the Rocket AV Team to donate their time, expertise and equipment to the center with all the children, care givers, sponsors, celebrities and M.A.C staff there to watch. The day consisted of various township stories dramatized by the children through song, drama and dance. A surprise performance by a Malaika and DJ C-Live ended the emotionally charged morning with a fun filled party for guests, staff and children alike.

The equipment we sponsored consisted of:

  • 2 x JBL SRX 725s double 15" Mid highs, 2 x JBL SRX 728s double 18" Bassbins
  • 2 x Crown Itec 4000 amplifiers to cover the 200 pax audience with a well balanced, full, high quality sound

Our recent addition of Sennheiser G3 radio microphones were the perfect choice for Malaika's beautiful 3 vocal harmonizing. Our professional sound engineer processed the mix using a Soundcraft SFX 8 mixing desk to provide reverb and deliver a crystal clear performance between vocals and backing-tracks which were played through our new Pioneer CDJ200s.
